Short Biography
POH Kim Leng is Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NUS, and concurrently, the Deputy Director of Temasek Defence Systems Institute. He graduated with first class honours from NUS, and received his Master and PhD degrees in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University. He is a member of the International Council for Systems Engineering (INCOSE), the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), and the Operational Research Society of Singapore (ORSS). He served as the President of ORSS from 1999 to 2002.
A/Prof Poh’s research at ESI focuses on Decision Analysis and Systems Modelling in Energy and Environment. His research deals with the development of mathematical models and analytical tools for studying energy and environmental issues at various levels and from different perspectives. The objective is to have a better understanding of energy and environmental systems for decision-making and systems optimisation. His areas of attention have included multiple criteria decision analysis of strategies for energy security; decision modelling for biodiesel as an alternative fuel; electricity generation projects evaluation under uncertainty; decision analysis of fuel alternatives for Singapore land transportation, etc.
